Is Biofuel actually going to work?

Nearly all politicians embrace this as a solution, but what is the reality?


On the face of it, it seems like a really good idea – grow crops and turn them into fuel, for a solution that’s carbon neutral throughout the complete cycle.
But the trouble is there are some pretty serious flaws in the scheme:
1. It competes with food supplies, and drives the cost of food above what the poorest can afford.
2. It can’t make more than the tiniest dent in the current demand for fossil fuels.
3. And, worst of all, it takes a substantial energy input to grow, process, and transport – eliminating much of the energy saving
